How to use the Chip and Scratch Repair System

The Paint Gear Chip & Scratch Repair Kit is a fully re usable system for your vehicle, designed to be on hand for when it inevitably picks up minor scratches, chips and road rash damage.

When you order.

Once an order has been received, our team mixes the exact vehicle paint colour to match your car. We can achieve this by using the information you provided in the drop down menu's on the product page upon ordering your kit. We then send you the system & colour matched paint in our reusable storage tube.

There when you need it

Unlike other systems, ours is designed to be used again and again. Keeping the system handy means that you can take action immediately and often to prevent further damage and corrosion happening.

Perfectly matched paint

Our basecoat is 100% colour matched to your vehicle. This is done using purpose built commercial mixing station with over 80,000 colours formulations available. This includes solid colours, metallics and pearlescents from all ages, makes and models. 

The Gloss Enhancer!

Our amazing Gloss Enhancer product works in multiple ways once it is mixed with the colour coat or base coat. Replacing the need to add a lacquer, it offers unrivalled durability, gloss, and bulking properties to the basecoat mix. 

Simply add a small amount of Colour Basecoat to one of the touch up pots provided in the kit. Using the Gloss Enhancer solution, approximately add 3 or 4 drops or roughly 10-20% to the Basecoat. This will make the paint shiny, hard and weatherproof once cured.

We provide everything

Once added to the cup, stir with one of the provided mixing sticks. Once the solutions are mixed, depending on the environment and temperature, the mixture will start to cure, thickening as it binds together over a period of time. 

Choosing an application tool

As well as 5 micro tip applicators, the system includes 3 premium grade touch up brushes for various tasks and damage variations.
The Brushes include a super fine micro tip brush, a general purpose fine/medium tip brush, as well as a long hair tip scratch paint applicator brush option for laying into scratches with accuracy and precision.

Applying the paint

Apply the paint to the damaged area using the chosen brush. The paint can be layered at 15 minute intervals. With the Gloss Enhancer solution mixed with the basecoat, once fully cured it can be washed, polished and even sanded. It is fully weather protected and normal use of the car inc. detailing can be resumed.

The Reducer

The Reducer solution has 2 main objectives! The 1st objective is to be able to thin the paint if needed. Paint thinning may be required to loosen up a base and enhancer mix to make it flow more easily. The reducers 2nd objective is to be used in conjunction with the Microfiber cloth provided, to clean the brushes after use.

Like new again

Using a small amount of solution and the cloth provided, brushes can be kept and maintained for regular use.

A proper storage solution for regular use

We designed this system for regular use. Once used, the kit can be cleaned and packed away safely and efficiently until it is required on a future occasion, using the tube packaging provided.
